New York Deserves Better Than Takeout
Let’s be real — New Yorkers have access to some of the best food on the planet. You can get Michelin-star ramen at 2 AM or a perfect slice on every corner. But when was the last time a chef showed up at YOUR place, fired up a teppanyaki grill on your rooftop, and cooked a five-course hibachi dinner while your friends watched the skyline?
That’s what we do. The Hibachi Legend has been serving private hibachi parties across all five boroughs since day one. We’ve set up on cramped Upper East Side terraces, sprawling Long Island backyards, and everything in between. If you’ve got the space for a table, we’ve got the chef for the show.
No restaurant reservations. No dress code. No sharing a grill with eight strangers who showed up on a Groupon deal. Just your people, your playlist, and a chef who knows how to put on a damn good show.
We started doing this because we got tired of the same old catering options in the city. Another tray of lukewarm pasta? More cold sandwiches? Come on. This is New York. Your parties should be as exciting as the city itself. A hibachi chef flipping shrimp into his hat while your guests crowd around the grill with drinks in hand — that’s a party. That’s what people remember.
Why New Yorkers Love The Hibachi Legend
🏙️ We Work With NYC Spaces
Tiny apartment? Rooftop with no elevator? We’ve seen it all. Our chefs are experts at setting up in tight NYC spaces — we bring compact grills and everything we need. You just need a flat surface and some hungry guests. We’ve cooked in studios, on fire escapes (okay, not literally), and in courtyards the size of a parking spot.
🗽 Borough-Wide Coverage
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island — and yes, Long Island, Westchester, and Jersey too. We don’t do boundaries. If Google Maps can find your address, our chef can get there.
⚡ NYC-Speed Booking
We know New Yorkers don’t plan three months ahead for dinner. Need a chef this weekend? We’ll do our best to make it happen. Our booking process takes about 5 minutes, and we’ll confirm within a few hours. Same-week bookings accepted when available.
🌙 Late-Night Friendly
This is the city that never sleeps, and neither do our grills. Evening and late-night time slots available for after-parties
Hibachi Parties Across the Five Boroughs
We’ve flipped shrimp in Williamsburg lofts, seared wagyu on Upper West Side terraces, and built onion volcanoes for kids’ birthday parties in Forest Hills. Our NYC chefs know the city inside and out — including where to double-park the van without getting a ticket. (Okay, we’ve gotten a few tickets. The food was worth it.)
Some of our most popular setups in New York include backyard hibachi in Park Slope — those brownstone gardens are perfect for a 15-person party. We do a ton of rooftop events in Bushwick and Williamsburg, where the sunset + the grill makes for some seriously Instagram-worthy moments. And our Tribeca and SoHo clients love intimate private dinners — just 6-8 guests, premium wagyu, candlelight, and a chef who can read the room.
We also serve the suburbs heavily. Westchester families go big on graduation parties and Fourth of July cookouts. Long Island loves us for bar mitzvahs and sweet sixteens. And our North Jersey clients — Hoboken, Jersey City, Fort Lee — they book us for everything from corporate team dinners to casual Sunday hangs.
Wherever you are in the New York metro, we’re bringing the heat. Literally.

What NYC Clients Are Saying
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“We hired The Hibachi Legend for my husband’s 40th birthday in our Park Slope backyard. The chef was incredible — the kids were screaming at the onion volcano and the adults couldn’t stop eating the lobster tail. Our neighbors asked if they could join. Best party we’ve ever thrown, hands down.”— Sarah M., Birthday Party in Brooklyn
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Our company booked a hibachi party for our quarterly team outing. The chef set up on our office rooftop in Midtown and it was honestly the best team event we’ve had in three years. People who never talk to each other were laughing, sharing food, trying to catch shrimp in their mouths. HR even approved it again for next quarter.”— David L., Corporate Event in Midtown
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“My boyfriend surprised me with a private hibachi dinner on our apartment terrace overlooking the Hudson. Just the two of us, a chef, and the best steak I’ve ever had. I kept looking around like ‘is this real life?’ He proposed the next month on the same terrace. Pretty sure the hibachi sealed the deal.”— Jessica R., Date Night in Manhattan
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Threw a graduation party for my son with 30 guests in our Queens backyard. Two chefs came and ran two grills simultaneously. The food was restaurant-quality — maybe better. My son said it was the best gift he’s ever gotten, and this is a kid who asked for a PS5 last year.”— Tony G., Graduation Party in Forest Hills

Hibachi at Home in NYC — Common Questions
Can you do hibachi in a small NYC apartment?
Yes! This is one of our most common questions from NYC clients. Our chefs use compact portable teppanyaki grills designed for tight spaces. We need roughly 6×4 feet of flat space — a kitchen, living room, balcony, or even a wide hallway can work. For indoor setups, we bring proper ventilation and use grills that produce minimal smoke. We’ve done full hibachi shows in 500-square-foot studios. It works.
Do you serve all five boroughs?
Every single one. Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island are all within our service area. We also cover Long Island, Westchester, parts of Connecticut, and North Jersey (Hoboken, Jersey City, Fort Lee, etc.). If you’re within the greater New York metro area, we can get to you.
How much does a hibachi party cost in NYC?
Pricing starts at around $60-$75 per person depending on your menu selections and group size. Our Classic package (chicken + shrimp) runs about $60/person, while the Legendary package (filet mignon + lobster tail) is around $75/person. Minimum group size is 10 guests. We provide free, no-obligation quotes — just tell us what you’re planning and we’ll give you exact numbers.
Can I book a hibachi chef for a rooftop party?
Rooftop parties are honestly one of our favorite things to do in NYC. We just need to confirm the space has a flat, stable surface and that the building allows cooking on the roof (most do, but some have restrictions). We handle everything else — setup, cooking, cleanup. Some of our best photos are from rooftop events with the Manhattan skyline in the background.
How far in advance should I book in New York?
We recommend at least one week in advance, especially for weekend events. Friday and Saturday nights in NYC book up fast — two weeks out is ideal for those slots. That said, we do accommodate last-minute bookings when our schedule allows. We’ve pulled off Tuesday-for-Saturday bookings more times than we can count. Just reach out and ask.
What do I need to provide for the hibachi party?
Not much. We bring the grill, all the food, sauces, cooking utensils, and our chef. You provide a table for the grill (or we can bring one), plates, silverware, napkins, and drinks. If you don’t want to deal with dishes, we offer a disposable dinnerware add-on for $3/person. Basically, you just need to show up hungry.
Do you handle cleanup after the party?
Yes. Our chef packs up all equipment, wipes down the cooking area, and takes all trash and leftover ingredients with them. Your space will look exactly like it did before we arrived — minus the leftovers your guests are taking home in tupperware.
Let’s Make Your NYC Party Legendary
Whether it’s a rooftop overlooking the skyline or a backyard in the boroughs, The Hibachi Legend will bring the heat. Your guests won’t stop talking about it — trust us, we’ve seen it happen hundreds of times.
